A Day in Tokaj: Nature, Wine & Great Food

Tokaj isn’t only about wine – though we’d hardly blame you if a good glass is what draws you in first. It’s a region full of beautiful scenery, where you can wander among the vineyards, explore cellars stocked with wine and enjoy some great food, too. Chateau Grand Bari brings it all together under one roof: you stay the night, taste, hop on an e-bike and savour dinner at sunset. We’ve put together a two-day itinerary that turns an ordinary weekend into a little escape from everyday life.

Day 1

14:00 – Arrival

Check in at the hotel and take a moment to unwind after the journey. On arrival, a welcome drink is waiting to set the mood right from the start.

15:00 – E-bikes

Rent e-bikes and set off along the wine routes and cycle trails nearby. It’s the perfect way to get to know Tokaj without breaking a sweat – and to “earn” your dinner before the tasting.

17:00 – Wine tasting

Back from the ride, book a cellar tour paired with a tasting. A sommelier’s expert commentary gives the tasting that extra something.

18:30 – Dinner on the terrace

After the tasting, treat yourself to a wonderful dinner at sunset. Good food, quality wine and an atmosphere you’ll fall for.

Evening

Relax and linger over a glass of wine.

Day 2

7:30 – Breakfast

At breakfast you pick whatever you fancy most – and you can enjoy it out on the terrace, too.

10:00 – Picnic

Instead of a classic morning, arrange a picnic basket right among the vineyards. Ideal for the end of your stay, while the sun isn’t blazing yet. A great chance to take in the view in peace, revisit the wines you tasted and snap a few photos.

Around 12:00 – Departure

Before you leave, take a piece of Grand Bari home with you and buy the wines you liked best.

Practical tips

• Book ahead – e-bikes, the tasting, the picnic and dinner all require a reservation, so call +421 56 333 79 55.
• Plan the picnic outside the hottest part of the day – early morning or late afternoon is ideal.
• E-bikes are a good way to “earn” your dinner before the tasting while enjoying the surrounding countryside.
