This October, taste Košice at VILLA SANDY
On 23 October, BWD Wine Distribution celebrates its 10th anniversary in the Atrium of the Slovak National Gallery (SNG) with a wine tasting and the chance to meet more than 30 winemakers from around the world. The afternoon also includes two masterclasses, each limited to 10 guests, with renowned Champagne houses and the Le Dôme estate from Bordeaux.
BWD Portfolio Tasting 2026 brings together wineries from the company's portfolio, among them Gaja, Philipponnat, Henri Giraud, Ca'Marcanda and Ferrari Trento. Guests will not only taste the wines but also talk directly with the people who make them. The event is open to trade professionals and wine lovers alike.
Alongside the main tasting, two masterclasses will be presented by the producers themselves.
MASTERCLASS CHAMPAGNE
with Champagne houses Philipponnat and Henri Giraud

The Philipponnat family has been growing vines in Champagne since 1522. The house is based in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ in the Marne Valley and owns Clos des Goisses, a 5.5-hectare vineyard on a steep, south-facing 45-degree slope above the Marne, considered one of the warmest sites in all of Champagne. Pinot Noir is the backbone of the house style.
Henri Giraud is based in Aÿ, a Grand Cru village where the Giraud-Hémart family has tended vines since 1625. The house's signature is fermenting and ageing its wines in oak from the Argonne forest, about 70 kilometres from the estate, a rare approach in a region where most producers keep wood in the background. Robert Parker famously called it "the greatest Champagne you've never heard of".

Le Dôme, owned by Jonathan Maltus, sits on the Saint-Émilion plateau in Bordeaux. Its vineyard is planted with around 80% Cabernet Franc and the rest Merlot, an unusually high share of Cabernet Franc for the region. Since 2021 the wines have been made in a circular, partly sunken winery designed by Foster + Partners. The 2010 vintage earned a perfect 100 points from Robert Parker.
Masterclass tickets are valid only in combination with a ticket to the main BWD Portfolio Tasting in Bratislava.
