6 Hotels Where You Can Enjoy Skiing, Relaxation, and Great Food

  • Curiosities

If you enjoy spending winter days on the slopes, you know how pleasant it is when quality relaxation and a good dinner await you afterward - giving you new energy for the next day on skis. Our editorial team has selected several hotel tips that combine easily accessible ski slopes, memorable culinary experiences, and peaceful moments in a sauna, pool, or during a massage.

Each of these six hotels has its own unique character - from Ayurvedic therapies and the first mountain beach to a 700-year-old burgher’s house. They all share one thing in common: they offer a complete experience you’ll return to not only for the skiing, but also for everything that comes after.

RESIDENCE Hotel Donovaly in the Low Tatras

The hotel is located right on the edge of Donovaly, close to ski slopes and hiking trails. Guests are welcomed with the concept of a “five senses hotel,” allowing for deep relaxation after a day on the slopes - whether in the Ayurvedic centre with therapists from India or elsewhere within the hotel.

Head Chef Andrej Roth brings a fresh wave of creativity and seasonal cuisine to this popular mountain destination. Carefully composed à la carte dishes as well as tasting menus delight even demanding guests, and when paired with a passionate sommelier and excellent wine presentation, the experience is complete. If you’re looking for an escape from everyday life with outstanding food and a high level of privacy, this hotel is an excellent choice.

Hotel Pošta in Jasná

This hotel is ideal for fans of boutique accommodation who prefer a more intimate atmosphere. It features a smaller wellness area with a massage pool and whirlpool, as well as rooms in several categories.

The restaurant focuses on dishes prepared from local ingredients using modern techniques, while the service places great emphasis on hospitality and a high standard of dining. A wide wine selection and a carefully curated menu reflect the quality that is clearly a priority here. As part of the TMR Hotels group, stays include lift passes to Jasná and the High Tatras, as well as access to the Tatralandia and Bešeňová water parks - allowing for an active stay in this beautiful region.

Doma u nás Boutique Hotel & Spa in Spišská Sobota

Doma u nás is housed in a sensitively restored, nearly 700-year-old burgher’s house in the beautiful town of Spišská Sobota, directly beneath the Tatras. The owners invite guests into a stunning, Nordic-inspired interior that reflects their vision of what hospitality services should look like.

The property includes a luxurious private wellness area with saunas and relaxation zones, as well as a restaurant. Head Chef Erik Volko, a leading figure in modern Slovak gastronomy, has brought his distinctive style here -paying tribute to the region, Slovakia as a whole, and honest ingredients. Numerous local producers of meat, cheese, vegetables, fish, and herbs supply the restaurant, where the chef’s skilled hands transform them into true culinary works of art.

Hotel Tri Studničky in the Demänovská Valley

This hotel represents a perfect symbiosis of boutique comfort, cosy mountain atmosphere, natural beauty, and top-tier gastronomy. The wellness area offers a truly unique experience: cooling off directly in the Demänovka stream on the first mountain beach in the Tatras.

Head Chef Tomáš Vitanovec and his team masterfully work with local ingredients, creating dishes that—while modern in presentation - reflect the richness of Slovak culinary traditions. Every dish is carefully balanced and beautifully presented. The service is exceptionally attentive without ever being intrusive, and their knowledge of the menu and wine pairings is of the highest level. This hotel rightfully belongs among the gems of Slovak hospitality. As part of TMR Hotels, guests also enjoy ski passes and access to water parks.

Liptovský dvor in Liptovský Ján

This property is set in a fairytale village beneath the peaks of the Low Tatras, surrounded by beautiful nature. Guests stay in fifteen standalone wooden chalets and can relax in a wellness centre by the mountain stream Štiavnica, featuring a counter-current pool, dry and steam saunas, a whirlpool, and an outdoor wooden hot tub.

The grounds also include tennis and squash courts, a children’s playground, and bicycle rentals. The main building houses the à la carte restaurant Liptovský dvor, which works with fresh, seasonal, and local ingredients under the guidance of Head Chef and Liptov native Lukáš Klenko. Drawing on local suppliers, he has infused the menu with his love of Asian cuisine while giving traditional Slovak recipes a modern touch. The menu may not be extensive, but every dish is thoughtfully crafted down to the smallest detail.
