Wellness Hotel Borovica, Hotelová Reštaurácia

Hotel Borovica is set in the stunning High Tatras, specifically at the renowned and much-visited by tourists Štrbské Pleso. From the moment of arrival, the hotel impresses with its exquisite interior, clearly reflecting no expense spared. We were immediately attended to by exceptionally friendly staff, whose care, humour, and communication were a refreshing surprise – qualities not always common in the Tatra tourist areas. In this regard, there is nothing to fault. The hotel also features an attractive wine cellar, offering a relatively wide selection of Slovak and international wines. From the menu, we chose the potato and mushroom croquette with Vršatec cheese and bryndza sauce – a beautiful combination of northern Slovak ingredients presented very elegantly. The rabbit saddle wrapped in bacon with a creamy root-vegetable sauce, alongside ricotta ravioli, may have seemed an unusual pairing, but the flavours complemented each other well. If there is a space for improvement, it would be the cisársky trhanec, which was less successful. We would also recommend reconsidering the practice of placing cutlery in pouches, which feels slightly out of place in such a refined setting. The overall impression and atmosphere of both the restaurant and the hotel were, however, extremely pleasant, thanks to the excellent service.
