THeMa restaurant – great food, good mood..

THeMA promises the charm of old Bratislava, honest Central European cuisine, and its own craft beer from brewery Vlčia svorka, available exclusively at the restaurant. Located in a beautiful space just steps from the promenade by the Danube, the restaurant offers a menu designed to appeal to every guest. The carrot and ginger cream soup with a hint of coconut impressed with its portion size and balanced flavour, though it could have benefitted from smoother straining and a crispy element. Grilled chicken supreme with leek and mushroom gratin, served with a creamy Dijon sauce, played with earthy colours across the white plate, but the otherwise well-seasoned sauce could have been more generous. The mint and raspberry cake was a pleasant surprise, with the mint sponge and light vanilla cream complemented by a subtle tartness from the raspberries. THeMA provides a lovely central-city setting and a thoughtfully composed menu, but there is room for improvement, particularly in attentive service and an expanded wine selection.
