SLOWENSKÁ builds its reputation on high-quality local ingredients and a personal signature of Chef Rastislav Fecho, who turns every visit into a mini culinary journey through the Tatras, local farms, and regional producers. The exterior is modern yet harmoniously fits the architecture of Starý Smokovec. Inside, the stylish interior showcases the designer’s hand, with a bright, welcoming space combining wood and natural tones. Dishes arrive beautifully composed, immediately reflecting the Chef’s signature style. The restaurant not only collaborates with nearby local suppliers but also runs its own “pantry”, a shop offering meat and cheese products, accompanied by a unique juniper spirit bar. For starters, we recommend the excellent take on classic treska, made from trout, and for dessert, the Chef’s speciality: a superb carrot cake. The main course, lamb with Kolozsvár-style cabbage, offered a creative twist: the cabbage, mixed with groats and coated in breadcrumbs, formed the base for a garlic- and rosemary-stuffed lamb leg, finished with a layer of cream sauce, roasted peppers, and parsley. The meat was perfectly cooked and tender, while the fried cabbage added a delicate crispness and an extra layer of flavour. Service could be enhanced by presenting dishes and their origins more actively, which would draw guests even further into the story. SLOWENSKÁ is a remarkable gastronomic experience, thanks to its top-quality local ingredients, the Chef’s precise execution, thoughtful textures and techniques, elegant plating, and a modern take on Slovak flavours.
