Samurai restaurant

For years, Samurai Restaurant has held a prominent place among lovers of sushi, Asian cuisine, and Balinese specialities in the Banská Bystrica area. Following an extensive refurbishment, the restaurant now welcomes guests in a refreshed, more attractive interior. The changes are also evident in the service and kitchen, which contributed to both achieving a higher standard. In collaboration with a well-known Slovak Chef, the team has updated the menu, adding several intriguing seasonal specials, though the selection may now feel a little too extensive. Modern tuna sashimi, accompanied by crisp and tangy elements such as fermented vegetables, set a high benchmark. Udon noodles with kimchi offered rich umami flavours with a gently spicy finish. Do not miss the legendary prawn Stephen roll, arguably the restaurant’s most popular dish over the years. The Balinese classic nasi goreng could benefit from a slight bit more seasoning and a touch of freshness. We would also modestly reduce the garnish of sprouts and herbs to the already visually appealing dishes. The wine list could do with a significant refresh, although the selection of Asian beers and, for example, sake, was pleasing.
