RIVERBANK is part of the Grand Hotel River Park, where a team led by head Chef Jaroslav Žídek, a legend of Slovak gastronomy, presents modern cuisine built on seasonal, local, and continental flavours. The menu features traditional Slovak specialities enhanced with refined international elements and offers an unforgettable gourmet experience with a view of the Danube. A modern interpretation of the classic mayonnaise salad is presented as smoked African catfish in potato foam with buttermilk, dried tuna, pieces of cucumber, quail eggs, and microgreens, a brilliant play of textures and flavours. It was worth taking the risk and following the service’s recommendation: the vegetarian version of a stew made from sprouted red wheat with parsnip, king oyster mushrooms, and egg was clear proof that Jaroslav Žídek can create culinary magic even without meat. Desserts are a category of their own. In addition to a perfectly prepared Kir Royale, we also recommend for sweet lovers the chocolate tart with nuts, caramel, and sea buckthorn sorbet, whose tanginess balanced the sweetness of the chocolate base. Uniqueness with a surprise in every bite, that is how Jaroslav Žídek’s cuisine can be summed up in one sentence. The same applies to the extensive wine list, which deserves its own ISBN number. The service at RIVERBANK is exemplary. However, despite the consistently generous seasonal offerings, the à la carte menu has remained unchanged for a year, and students on duty should be supervised by a manager, regardless of the commendable effort to educate young staff. RIVERBANK is an ideal place to enjoy traditional flavours presented in a unique and inimitable way.
