Restaurant Parlament

Restaurant Parlament can pride itself on its unique view over the river Danube and Bratislava Castle. Its location attracts crowds of tourists who want more than just a meal or coffee with a city view. The menu is designed accordingly, in a “something for everyone style” and is complemented by a wine list, featuring both regional and international selections. The twelve-hour broth evokes a Sunday lunch at Grandma’s, with impeccable flavour and colour. Penne with beef sirloin and a rich meat sauce is well balanced with cherry tomatoes and Parmesan shavings. On a shallow plate, however, you must dig for the sauce under the pasta, and the meat tends to get lost among the noodles. The tiramisu, while nice, would have benefited from more attention, a bit more cream and a stronger coffee-amaretto flavour. The staff slightly improved the overall impression of our visit. Still, the highlight of the experience was the restaurant’s view rather than the culinary offering itself. To match its unique location, the restaurant could benefit from a more coherent menu that aligns with the high expectations of its setting.
