Liptovský dvor restaurant is part of a hotel resort in Jánska Dolina in The Low Tatras, just a short drive from the motorway. The surrounding area offers beautiful natural views. The interior is tastefully decorated in a traditional folk style. The kitchen serves Slovak cuisine with a modern twist, using seasonal, high-quality ingredients. Both the menu composition and the presentation of dishes show that the head Chef has gained experience abroad. The à la carte menu is short and concise but perfectly suited to this type of restaurant. The wine list features several Slovak options in each category, complemented by a few international selections, usually from France or Italy. The staff were polite and professional, though we felt the setting could benefit from a touch more warmth and friendliness. From the menu, we were particularly impressed by the pork variation, a thoughtful composition showcasing different techniques for preparing pork, including cheeks and tenderloin. The delicate pea purée added a fresh sweetness and contrast. Dumplings filled with sauerkraut and raisins were another highlight, combining tartness with gentle sweetness. Overall, we appreciate the gourmet interpretations of traditional Slovak flavours, though longer waiting times between courses are worth noting. This restaurant is recommended for any occasion, from celebrations and family gatherings to a stop during a hiking trip.
