Massimo ristorante

14.5 | 20

According to Massimo, everything in Italy is based on family, from which traditions are translated into a cuisine loved around the world. For over 20 years, he has been building his restaurant on these Italian values, preparing food with genuine love and care. We can confirm that this love is truly felt in the dishes, not only visually, but above all in their flavour. Even tomato soup carries the restaurant’s distinct signature, dominated by toasted rosemary croutons placed at the centre, a generous portion of basil pesto, and a drizzle of olive oil. Its texture may come as a surprise, resembling a finely whipped purée rather than a classic soup. A category of its own is the house- -made ravioli filled with veal shank, served with a demi-glace sauce and Parmesan foam. The delicate pasta pillows are filled with fine fluffy meat and carrot filling, floating in a bold meat sauce. With every mouthful you can taste the tenderness, the depth of the demi-glace, and the sweetness of root vegetables, while the creamy foam on top softens the otherwise bold sauce. Even the microgreens are not just for the show but meaningfully contribute to the flavour. Only a pinch of salt would have elevated this meal to complete perfection. The gourmet experience continues when Massimo’s tiramisu “lands” in front of you. Its presentation is truly captivating. Chocolate crumble at the bottom of the glass, topped with whipped mascarpone cream and coffee ice cream, all finished by pouring a small glass of amaretto over the dessert yourself. By breaking the traditional presentation, this tiramisu proves that even classic recipes can be reimagined with modern flair. Massimo offers a vibrant, contemporary Italian menu built on high-quality ingredients. Together with the wine selection (though in our opinion, serving wine in a frozen glass is not ideal), the restaurant stands out as a significant player on the scene of Italian restaurants in the capital. If the staff were more cheerful and more open towards guests, the restaurant would become a perfect example of success on every level.
