K-BAB by Maehwa

Restaurant K-BAB by Maehwa is located on the busy Štefánikova Street, between the main train station, Hlavná stanica, and the Presidential Palace. It serves authentic Korean cuisine and is a favourite among the local Korean community. The interior is simple, almost retro in style, but the staff creates a warm, almost family-like atmosphere. The à la carte menu offers a carefully curated selection of the best Korean dishes. Owner Kim Heui Yeon places great emphasis on the quality of ingredients, personally selecting meats and vegetables from trusted selected suppliers. We were particularly impressed by the wide range of rice dishes, including bibimbap (mixed rice), deopbap (non-mixed rice) and fried rice, as well as noodle dishes with or without soup and hot pots. Grilled meats form another special category on the menu, complemented by a thoughtful selection of beverages. We especially recommend the Korean teas, which have their own dedicated section on the drink’s menu, most notably the excellent brown rice green tea. The service staff knows the menu by heart, so guests need not worry about unfamiliar dish names. Our recommendations include bulgogi bibimbap, served in a hot pot with a separate chilli sauce on the side, and the legendary fried chicken in sweet-chilli sauce. Anyone who enjoys bold, authentic flavours of South Korea will be satisfied.
