Gatto Matto Ventúrska

Gatto Matto is a family concept created by two cousins, Maxim and Marek, who have been developing it for years. Each of their three Bratislava establishments offers something different, with a dynamic, Italy-inspired menu. The restaurant on Ventúrska Street, close to Michalská brána (Michael’s Gate), is well suited for gatherings with friends and family, as well as for tasting and sharing dishes. The signature offering is pizza with a fluffy crust and high-quality ingredients, complemented by a range of other Italian-inspired dishes. We took the opportunity to try the traditional tomato soup, which featured a generous portion of Parmesan and a pleasant consistency, reminiscent of a smooth, not too thick purée. Only a pinch of salt was missing. The caramelle pasta, filled with spinach and ricotta and served with ’nduja sauce, salsiccia, and crunchy basil, created a delightful harmony of flavours and textures. Even here, however, the dish would have benefited from a touch more salt. The tiramisu, made with homemade sponge cake, had an enchanting flavour, though a more generous layer of sponge would have improved the balance. With its offering and service, although occasionally a bit confused, Gatto Matto ranks among the best Italian concepts in town. We are already looking forward to our next visit, which consistently brings something innovative and interesting.
