Don Saro is a slightly hidden restaurant that may not look appealing at first glance, yet it truly impressed us with its authentic atmosphere, reminiscent of a small family-owned trattoria somewhere amid Sicily. The menu is full of Italian classics, among which we would especially recommend the pasta carbonara with guanciale bacon, prepared exactly as it should be, with a perfectly seasoned, creamy sauce and crisp bacon. If you are in the mood for something more distinctive, the caponata Siciliana starter stands out with its complex and well-balanced flavours. As an area for improvement, we would suggest placing a stronger emphasis on the wine selection, which in our opinion, this type of cuisine truly calls for. For the lovers of Italian food, Don Saro, located on the outskirts of the capital, is certainly worth a visit.
