I tre somari is another venture of the da Cono group, located in Vydrica, the new and modern Bratislava quarter beneath the Castle. The da Cono group is known for its traditional Italian cuisine, yet each of its restaurants also offers seasonal specials, hand-written on a board. I tre somari is a modern establishment that still preserves classic Italian elements, offering a traditional selection of starters, pizza, fish, and pasta, including filled pasta “pasta ripiena”. Truffle lovers will appreciate the lunette al tartufo with ricotta and truffle filling, served with a porcini mushroom cream sauce. Only a pinch of salt was missing to achieve perfection. The salad and dessert were slightly disappointing. While the tomato soup was otherwise well seasoned, it lacked a stronger sense of distinction or signature; a hint of basil or a crunchy element would have elevated it. We finished the meal with tiramisu, which had an indistinct shape, less cream than expected, and lacked moisture and fullness of flavour. Da Cono I tre somari is gradually finding its footing in Vydrica, and once a few minor flaws are ironed out, it has the potential to become a fully-fledged piece of the gastronomic puzzle of this modern neighbourhood.
