Banchan Korean Bistro

Banchan Korean Bistro is located in the backyard of an older building on the busy Obchodná Street and takes some time to find. The interior is small and cosy, though nothing particularly distinctive. The fixed menu features Korean classics served with three banchan – traditional Korean side dishes chosen by the guest. The drinks menu offers a variety of Korean beverages, ranging from soft drinks, including house-made Korean ice tea, to Korean beers or rice wines. The biggest drawback is the service, which neither offers recommendations nor provides explanations but merely takes orders. We chose the fried fish with kimchi, which created a harmonious umami combination of spicy and lightly sour flavours. The kimchi added juiciness to the rice and a contrasting texture. The rice was complemented by a fried egg and seaweed. Overall, apart from a few minor final touches and seasoning, there was little to complain about regarding the food.
