Antica Toscana Bratislava

14 | 20

Antica Toscana is like Bratislava’s own Vatican, a small Italian state within a Slovak city. Once you step through the gate, you instantly find yourself in Tuscany. Lemon trees in pots, charmingly broken Slovak spoken with an Italian accent, and the ever-present aromas of Parmesan, guanciale, and olive oil set the scene. The menu is built around popular Italian classics, but you will also find seasonal specials, which the owner is happy to explain personally. This time, we went for a classic, spaghetti carbonara. We dare say these were among the best spaghetti we have had in Bratislava and its surrounding, if not the best. The only difference compared to those we tried in Rome was the plate they were served on. And dessert? A panna cotta with pieces of lemon zest and chocolate ganache. The portion size was easily meant for two, served in a bowl covered with a generous layer of chocolate. Perhaps a little less would have sufficed, as it slightly overwhelmed the delicate flavour of the panna cotta itself. The atmosphere at Antica Toscana is unforgettable. The constant respect for both the customer and the craft makes you want to keep coming back. Visit once, and it certainly will not be your last time.
