Angels Restaurant

The unassuming Angels restaurant, located in a wider centre of Banská Bystrica, conceals a sumptuous, luxuriously designed interior. The friendly staff are happy to guide you through the menu, which, perhaps, is a bit too diverse, ranging from Asian dishes through Slovak and Mediterranean specialities to burgers. The restaurant is well suited for both a casual lunch and special occasions. For connoisseurs, a special cognac tasting is also available, truly spectacular and prepared with great care by the owners. In French style, the meal begins with a starter of brioche, Gruyère cheese, mushrooms, and hazelnuts. This ode to the autumn landscape was visually appealing and fragrant with French cheese, though a bit more pronounced seasoning would have been of a benefit. The fish was beautifully cooked, with excellent texture, and the beurre blanc sauce elegantly drew all the elements of the dish together. The tiramisu arancina was an interesting idea, though it did not surpass the classic. The plum and ginger ice cream served alongside the dessert won us over the most, thanks to its harmonious blend of sweet, acidic, and earthy flavours, leaving us smiling as we departed. While the seasoning lacked some of the precision noted last year, Angels is nonetheless a compelling choice for those who enjoy food that challenges conventions and is occasionally provocative.
