Thai Mai – Bangkok Street Food

11.5 | 20

Thai Mai, offering authentic Thai cuisine, is something you would not expect in a panel-block estate. The interior is small and cosy, though fairly dark. It is dominated by a bar with a glowing neon logo and an open kitchen, where guests can watch the food being prepared. The menu reflects a typical Thai bistro, with an à la carte selection including classics such as tom yum and tom kha soups, red and green curries, fried rice, and pad thai noodles. From the starters, the Thai street food special kratong thong stands out: little baskets of minced pork that are now rarely seen even in Thailand. We also recommend the pad thai with chicken, one of the best we have had in Slovakia. Drinks include traditional Thai iced tea in several flavours, as well as Thai beer. The service is a highlight: the waiter, clearly enjoying his work, engaged in informal conversation and contributed to a relaxed atmosphere, which helps explain why Thai Mai is so popular among locals.
