Staničný pivovar, a brewery-style restaurant in Košice, is located on the second floor of the main railway station. From the moment you step inside, it is clear you are in a beer hall. The interior features a classic wooden design with exposed brick details and large windows overlooking the station square and the city park, and during the summer months, guests can also enjoy a spacious terrace. The atmosphere is unmistakably pub-like, with loud music and an open-plan layout. In addition to an à la carte menu and burgers, the restaurant offers a wide selection of beers brewed especially for Staničný pivovar by local Slovak breweries. The concept is particularly appealing to travellers, as the restaurant effectively serves as a kind of “waiting lounge”. From the menu, we recommend the hunter’s beef goulash served with buttery dumplings. The dumplings had an excellent texture, the portion was more than generous, the meat was cooked exactly as it should be, and the rich sauce was the real highlight. If the staff improve their confidence and knowledge of the menu and beer selection, waiting for a train in Košice could become a genuine pleasure.
