Pri Piecke

Staré Hory is a gateway to the Low Tatras and a great location for a convenient stop for a meal while travelling through this region. A small contact farm, playground equipment and a children’s corner beneath the trees make Pri Piecke an ideal weekend destination for families. The kitchen combines local recipes, seasonal ingredients, and farm produce, all handled with confidence by head Chef Robo Hadviga. The duck pâté with house-made brioche and an excellent reduction of cherry mead with quince was presented creatively, finished with a touch of smoked aroma. The side dishes accompanying the zander, built around pronounced sweet-and-sour notes, competed slightly with one another, though the sauce itself paired well with the fish. In short, at times there was simply too much competing on the plate. The pirohy, on the other hand, was outstanding, served with high-quality, pleasantly sharp bryndza and crowned with well-rendered bacon. There is room for improvement in the quality of service, as well as for a slight simplification of the interior. Nevertheless, if you are passing through with children, this place is an ideal stop.
