The menu aims to showcase not only international influences but also the essence of Slovak cuisine through traditional specialities. One such dish, beef tongue with house-made dumpling, was well executed but would have benefited from a few refinements, such as bolder seasoning or a touch more creativity. Soups, however, are clearly the kitchen’s strength: the carrot and ginger cream soup was beautifully smooth and well balanced. Unfortunately, that cannot be said of the dessert, a doughnut with jam, which lacked depth of flavour and a higher-quality jam filling. Sometimes, it only takes small adjustments to achieve an excellent result. A real highlight was the wine list, whose broad and carefully selected range easily compensated for the kitchen’s minor shortcomings. Hotel Pošta is an excellent choice for those seeking a combination of good food and outstanding hiking or skiing in the Tatra Mountains.
