Kortina restaurant & relax centre

10 | 20

Away from the centre of Komárno and far from tourist crowds, you will find the understated restaurant and relaxation centre Kortina. A pleasant dining room with exposed brickwork creates a warm atmosphere, combining a gentle historic style with dark wooden furniture, checked fabric armchairs, and comfortable leather banquettes. The kitchen focuses on seasonality and a small number of tourist-friendly specialities and popular dishes on an otherwise concise menu. It is a pity that the wine list does not fully correspond with the food offering, as the main courses would certainly benefit from more thoughtful wine pairings. Jókai bean soup, much like halászlé, is excellent almost everywhere; here it was well seasoned and enriched with smoked pork knuckle and sour cream. The duck breast was outstanding, full of surprising textures and flavours, lifted in particular by crispy quinoa, pickled apples, and parsley oil, which added a welcome freshness to the dish. There was a slight disappointment with the dessert, which did not fully match its description on the menu and lacked the same level of creativity and surprise found in the main course. Even so, Kortina remains a good choice if you are looking for a peaceful location outside the city centre while still enjoying good food and authentic cuisine.
