Even after many years, the stylish interior of Cartel restaurant has retained its charm. On top of that, the absence of tourist crowds will allow you to enjoy lunch or dinner in a calm and relaxed setting. A wine connoisseur, however, may find their offering somewhat limited. On the other hand, the selection of mixed alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails is pleasing, as is the experienced service, whose staff clearly understand their profession and can recommend confidently from the extensive food and beverage menu. A longstanding favourite on the menu is the chilli prawns with parsley and toast, which impress with their pronounced flavour and well-executed preparation. The spaghetti carbonara is prepared authentically, using the right ingredients, and leaves little to complain about. The pork loin, however, was slightly dry and the risotto somewhat overcooked. Nevertheless, this did not detract from the overall restaurant experience, and if you are seeking a quieter place to dine in the town, Cartel remains a good choice.
