Caffe Restaurant 66

If you decide to visit Caffe Restaurant 66, do not let either the exterior or the interior mislead you. At first glance, this unassuming establishment hides a true Balkan heart, transformed into Mediterranean and Balkan cuisine full of freshness, colours and flavours. The restaurant places emphasis on high-quality ingredients: fresh meat and fish from local farms, carefully selected vegetables, and cold-pressed olive oil of Greek and Adriatic origin. The seaside character of the dishes is enhanced by simple presentation and a delicate touch of sea salt. The menu also includes house-made Italian pastries, typical seaside dishes, and a limited wine list. The veal soup, prepared with a rich broth and finished with cream, contained plenty of meat, grated carrots, and parsley. Only a pinch of salt was missing to reach perfection. The cheese- and bacon-filled pljeskavica, served with traditional ajvar and red onion, will transport you straight to the streets of Bosnia; we recommend pairing it with a traditional Shopska salad on the side. The house-made krémeš was not overly sweet, with its sweetness nicely complemented by a caramel topping. The service staff were very busy during lunchtime, which was reflected in the presentation of the dishes; on the other hand, their speed was commendable. If you crave Balkan flavours but lack the time to travel that far, Caffe Restaurant 66 is a perfect spot that blends the sea, wine, and good food.
